Where We’ve Been & Where We’re Going
Founded in 1956 by three partners, Bibb Distributing Company has a rich history spanning three generations of the Stewart family.
Our Story
1956Bibb Distributing Company was founded by Winburn E. Stewart, E.K. Stephens, and George Heller following their purchase of an Anheuser-Busch distributorship, initially distributing liquor, beer, and wine.
1958Mr. Stewart committed to the distributorship full-time, which then operated as three corporations, distributing Liquor, Beer, and Wine.
1960Bibb Distributing’s liquor license was removed, and Mr. George Heller departed from the ownership group.
1968Anheuser-Busch mandated the separation of wine and beer distribution, which resulted in Mr. Stewart becoming the sole distributor of Anheuser-Busch products in Middle Georgia.
1973Mr. Stewart’s son, Winburn E. Stewart, Jr. (Brother), joined Bibb Distributing full-time after graduating from the University of Georgia, having gained experience with the company since 1964. At the time, Pabst Blue Ribbon led the Georgia beer market, with a 45% share in Middle Georgia. Bibb Distributing held a 21% market share among six regional distributors.
1984Bibb opens a new 75,000 square foot, state-of-the-art warehouse.
1988Brother purchased Bibb Distributing Company from his father, leading the company successfully for 32 years.
2006Bibb added its first non-Anheuser-Busch brand, Yuengling, marking the beginning of its expansion into additional suppliers and non-beer products.
2020Brother sold Bibb Distributing Company to his son, Winburn E. Stewart III (Win). Under Win’s leadership, Bibb Distributing has expanded its product portfolio by over 45%, adding 200+ SKUs, and implemented over 100 improvements to enhance company standing and employee work-life balance.
2025Bibb Distributing Company celebrates almost 70 years in business! Cheers to selling more than 125,000,000 cases of beer since its founding in 1956.
